Product Description

If you're looking for a classic Fender Stratocaster with plenty of old-school "mojo" — without breaking the bank on a genuine vintage model — then this FSR Vintera Road Worn '60s Stratocaster is probably your best bet! Featuring a thin nitrocellulose finish just like all of the highly sought-after Strats made in the '50s and '60s "Golden Era", this limited edition model has also undergone Fender's "Road Worn" treatment; giving it the relic'd look and feel of a guitar that's been played for decades.

That's not all though. This particular Fender FSR Vintera Road Worn '60s Stratocaster comes supercharged with a set of Custom Shop 'Texas Special' single-coils too, which deliver that iconic Strat sound but with a little more grit. Fender have even thrown in a free deluxe gig bag — easily making this one of the best bang-for-your-buck Strats currently on the market!

Superb '60s Strat Style

The Fender FSR Vintera Road Worn '60s Stratocaster pairs an Alder body with a Maple neck; a classic combination that's adored for yielding a balanced tone with a snappy upper mid-range response. The neck is shaped to a mid '60s "C" profile, providing a "time capsule" feel that's incredibly comfortable and supportive. Vintage-sized frets and a 7.25" fingerboard radius keep the retro vibe thoroughly intact, features that are sure to appeal to even the most passionate of vintage Fender fans.

Custom Shop 'Texas Special' Pickups

Fender's US-wired Custom Shop Texas Special pickups are over-wound for increased output and made with alnico 5 magnets and enamel-coated magnet wire; yielding great mid-range bite with crystalline highs, tight bass response and enhanced harmonics. You'll struggle to find a guitar with superior pickups at this price-point!

Nitro finish under £1000. Great feeling neck. Lighter and more resonant than my MIM standard strat. The relic template isn't too realistic but no complaints for the price.

I’ve bought guitars from andertons before, to which I was very pleased. I received this Pink FSR strat and was incredibly impressed with the guitar. It feels JUST like a custom shop fender such as with the road worn neck which feels great and the lovely playability. Not to mention the custom shop Texas special pickups, they have lovely clarity on clean channels and bitey on the overdrive. Perfect for a SRV jam. For the price it is simply remarkable. The guitar really made me play different and that’s a sign of a good guitar. It brilliant, you are literally getting a custom shop guitar but for £2/3000 less. However when it arrived I noticed it was fretting out on the 8th fret and I realised this was a truss rod issue, because it’s a 60s strat there is no entry point at the top to adjust and I don’t particularly know what I’m doing and I’ve been playing for 10 years. So I’ve had to send the guitar off to be sorted out which will cost me another £40. You have to really know what you’re doing otherwise you could do a lot of damage. Once this is sorted though, it will be an absolute dream of a guitar. I’ve taken the back plate off to look more authentic my road worn because the plastic on the back plate looks brand new and cheap and doesn’t fit with the road worn vibe (being aged/yellowed). Having it off is just a personal preference. If you’re a guitarist who’s been playing for a while and looking for that step up to a more expensive instrument or and experienced player who just want another sharp axe in the arsenal, it’s perfect. Do not be dissuaded by the Mexican made status. They are the same it’s just that the labour is cheaper in Mexico and normal mex’s aren’t supercharged with custom pups. I hope this review has helped for anyone looking to buy this guitar as it’s really good to hear how people actually found the guitar. Especially as this is a fender FSR and only has a few videos. P.s just because my truss rod was off doesn’t mean yours would be too.

The instrument arrived well packaged and set up incredibly (mostly in tune which was a nice surprise,) The finish is beautiful and the light wear is stunning. No defects from the qc process and all electronics working perfectly.

Mr Martin Smith10th Jun 2023

I would happily give this guitar a 5* review but for one issue. I believe, because it's an FSR, it's a bit of a partscaster and it shows with the choice of bridge, as it seems Fender went with one of their wide Vintage bridges but the neck is a narrow MiM so the High and Low E end up very very close to the edges of the neck towards the top end. Everything else is absolutely phenomenal for the price point.

Excellent instrument. The US pickups are juicy but still retain clarity when using a driven amp. The unfinished neck in particular is spectacular. Only one are of the road worn-ness I would have done without is the 'I missed the jack socket' dings, but that's all
